Hanging with Buddha on Halfmoon Creek
There’s something soothing about moving slowly along a forest creek in the rain, picking your way through ferns and cedars and moss. This is Halfmoon Creek, located west of Sechelt, BC. It’s a great place to sit with a book when the weather’s nice. Or to just sit.
With the water and solitude, it was easy to be meditative—especially when I ran into Buddha. We hung out, spent some quiet time together. Then I moved on. I like knowing he’s there, steadfast and watchful. During a recent flood, the water was up to his shoulders. It didn’t seem to bother him much. I suppose he’s seen many floods and droughts. The moss shroud looks good on him, too.
Later, the dog and I continued up the trail, feeling very much at peace in the soft rain.
